Lavender was more used in the early 20th century. You can still see its legacy in the Lambda literary awards, which use a lavender version of the Greek letter as their logo, and it expressions like "lavender mafia."

The pink triangle is also very popular as an appropriation of Nazi iconography for homosexuals. And of course the rainbow flag since the 70s is probably the most common these days because it generally represents all LGBT people.

I lived through the sixties. I could never see purple as exclusively gay, not in a million years ...

Sorry about the YouTube spelling Jimi Hendrix's name wrong and the blurb saying it is from the 70s. Kids, eh?!! No idea of history.

That belt is awesome, mainly because I abuse color in my art Big Grin, but I have a habit of breaking a lot of the studs off my belts. And I didn't know purple was the color for homosexuality, I wear it all the time (my shoelaces are purple XD). I just like it because my favorite color is Indigo.

The belt is cool Confusedmile:

When I paint or draw I like to use alot of differeant colours all mixed up too, I thinking of doing a projuct where I mix up images of a riot with images from a gay pride thing (cant remember whats it called lol). Not to sure why at the moment though what the meaning of it will be lol!!

I wasn't aware of Purple as synonymous with being gay; however, I've just done an inventory of the contents of my wardrobe and have discovered some shocking synchronicities
