Am I a BAD lesbian?
#1
I LOVE stand up comedy. I watch it on HBO comedy channel, LOGO, Comedy Central, etc, and I've been to many live shows. However, I just don't find most lesbian comedians funny. Don't get me wrong...I love Ellen-she is hilarious and I loved her even before I knew she was gay (yeah, I'm that old..lol) and there are others that I do like. But so many of them (mostly the new, not famous ones) are just not funny-at all. On the flip side, the new, not famous gay men comedians that I see are hilarious (again, most, not all). Anybody else feel this way, or am I just a bad lesbian? (Also, I can't stand Joan Rivers!!!! Maybe I'm just a bad, bad gay in general!!!)

Being gay doesn't mean you have to like everything gay ;p So I cannot comment how bad you are Wink but on the comment of not liking Gays or Lesbians well finding them funny you are not bad :p

I haven't seen much comedy but not at all! Much better to like what you like naturally than to like it because you're in the supposed "target" audience. Though I overall like Glee as said in the other thread, I never got into Queer as Folk (U.S. version - I've heard UK's is better but never have had a chance to check it out); thought Will & Grace went downhill when it became less comedy more drama; and can't claim to be a huge fan of any of the divas - be it Barbra, Cher, Madonna, Britney or Gaga (which isn't to say I haven't liked some songs by them... but not to the extent of others). Perhaps they haven't been that funny; or perhaps their type of humor is just not yours. Going from famous ones I do know, Ellen is far different in her style than Margaret Cho - no one said you have to like both or even either just because you're a lesbian!

Not trying to be sexist, although it would seem sexist.

Women arn't as funny as men.

Don't mean to offend.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Glee...Loved Queer as Folk, watched it religiously from beginning to end and still watch occassionally in syndication, Loved the L Word (for as long as it was on), am sort of getting into The Real L Word, LOVED (and still do) Will & Grace...even have the box set, and love Babs, some Cher, some Madonna, very little Britney, very very little Gaga (and it's only her music, not her personality-at least the one she projects)....maybe I'm a gay man trapped in a woman's body instead of a lesbian!!! LOL!! Wait, then I would have to sleep with men...OK, no. I'm a flamboyant lesbian?!?!!?!? Can I be a 'twink' les? I'm 34 and feeling old. Sorry, went a bit off topic there...I'll shut my big fat mouth now...Wink

Honey, I don't offend easily!! And I tend to be offensive without knowing it, so I have a bit of a thicker skin. Maybe that's it, women just aren't as funny as men. Thinking about it, gay or straight, the comedians I like the best are men. Hmmm...interesting.

I almost agreed with you until I realised that perhaps it is just because there aren't as many female comedians. Having a quick think about it I can name more male comedians that piss me off than I can name female comedians in total.
