Feeling sad and depressed all the time

In recent months I've been feeling depressed and deeply sad all the time. I'm not suicidal. I don't feel like killing myself. But I feel like there should be something more to life. I ask, is this it? Is this as good as it gets?

Sometimes, I just feel so sad that I lash out at people. I wake up in the morning and I don't want to get up that I lay awake for two hours before finally getting up. I am so tired of the repetitive day to day activities that only end on Fridays. work, home. work, home. work, home.

This is so frustrating.

Well, change something about your life than. Make things more flexible, work around stuff and navigate towards nex experiences and something that you'd like to do...
Or talk to a therapist about it... :]

i think u just need change in ur life... find something new to do... meet new people

When i feel like that, which i do every so often, i like to just sit down for a bit and think things through. Work out what i'm going to do in the future or whatever. Helps me.

Failing that i like to just sit outside and stare at the stars for ages. Also helps.

By the sounds of it you just need to like break your routine. Try something new or do something in a different way. Just break the monotony

May I ask how old you are? There are things such as quarterlife crisis and midlife crisis. As much as the latter is joked about, neither should be dismissed.

Is there anything you can change? A new hobby that excites you? Also, try ways to boost the good chemicals in your brain such as exercise. There are a lot of natural ways to start feeling better about yourself. Of course if it persists or worsens, you may indeed need to see a doctor.

My honest advice is to hit the gym. Not necessarily to get fit or whatever, but you'll meet people and it will distract you for the monotony of daily routines.

On a chemical level, it'll pump endorphins into your system; they naturally make us feel better, so that might help Big Grin
Give it a shot, why not, right?

You have to be the driving force of change within yourself if you want to break out of this cycle. You need to be the one to implement and inject some form of variety and stimulation into your life. As already mentioned by others, taking up new hobbies and activities can be a great way to achieve this and break the monotony.
I know it can sometimes be hard to force yourself into new activities, as part of the problem is a total lack of energy to apply yourself as you feel completely drained by the cycle you are caught up in, but I would recommend giving it a go.

Sometimes you just have to seize the moment and shake yourself out of the routine of life and just go for it and try something new Confusedmile:
