Cuddling is far more intimate than a hug. Now, the difference between cuddling and coddling is another issue. Both very intimate. I believe that coddling may occur during the cuddling process, but that's just me.

Definitely, a difference. I wouldn't cuddle an old friend and I don't think it's possible to hug whilst naked.
