I give mad props to these people.... but it seems the bigger you go, the more it becomes like other businesses where it becomes about profit so you question their stories (i.e. devoting so much to Michael Jackson), their ethics (World News), their tact (likes of TMZ) and if they even have a right to call themselves news (pundits on Fox News). Still I think it's wrong to lump all media together, as there's still great stuff out there. I also disagree that news is biased when it comes to broadcast nets (the cable channels are a different story).
If you believe the television mainstream media is doing anything good I find that horribly untrue...I find the 4 tv networks along with 3 news channels to be total trash. I find them unbearable to watch.
I find mainstream radio to be utterly disgusting since it is based on Rush Limbaugh, right wing commentators, elevator music and listening music.
I definitely still watch PBS and certain specialty shows usually on cooking and home repair. Current favorite is How Things Are Made from Canada. I was delighted recently to find a good local news about New Jersey
On radio I like WBGO the best jazz station in America. I also love to rummage thru lower end of FM listening to college radio stations.
I like some sporting events and breaking news, e.g. Oslo and Japanese tsunami.
If I lived outside NY area I would check out local tv and radio.
Currently I average less than an hour a day on tv or radio stations. I have access to certain music channels which I listen to while I read or blog. Prefer classical music and then alternative on weekends.
My biggest complaint about internet is that it is poorly organized, nonstandardized and has 30 million porn sites. It is still a long way from being a useful tool for research. You still can't access the hidden internet which includes my university catalog. I dare you to find a mistake on my portion of the internet. You currently have to go to university and spend 10 minutes looking at university ads. I get so tired looking for my child my mind wanders off. I spent so many hours on my catalog I felt like it was my son.
I appreciate you mentioned some of the individual horror stories by name.
If I ever see the name Browder I promise you I will take notes. If you wanted to lead a riot count me in!!!!!!
You remind me so much of my father I can't believe it. He was the most factual man I ever knew. For reasons known only to God he married the funniest woman I ever knew--Mommy. Every time I see your name I suspect my dad was behind your post. My fathers favorite 3 words were SHUT UP JOHN backed up with YOUR AS CRAZY AS YOUR MOTHER. I finally came to the conclusion my dad was a woman in a man 's body and my mom was a man in awoman's body. Since they couldn't afford a sex change they decided to be heterosexual instead and have 3 children for the fun of it. Being the sensible son in the family by 12 I screamed Get out my goddamn kitchen mom---if you want to eat dinner stay in the front room mom---jesus mommy why did you leave your dirty dishes in the washing machine again---Satan had nothing to do with that cookbook mom you tear it in half you won't eat for a month mom--- THEN when I finally got totally exhausted she would say---any god who invented a kitchen wasn't worth believing in---since I always knew what she was up to I would relent--Ok mommy I will bring you 2 desserts if you just sit in your chair.
Guys this is so embarrassing I was an unmarried father at 10. She eventually grew up and passed away but I still talk to her each day. Mommy if I see people running from heaven I will deny I ever met you if God asks.
Some people question whether God is patient and forgiving I always quietly say yes.
I love you Mom and I will love you to the end of time. Tell Pop I said hello.
