Here in America an illegal is a Mexican. This is so because the media focuses on the southern boarder forgetting such things that the attackers of 9-11 came into the USA over the northern border which is still so lax you can pretty much just walk across at any random point.
If you're white. If your any other race, well then suddenly you have a whole heap-a-big-trouble to deal with. Even if you are just well tanned (still white, but look potentially brown) - again you have big troubles.
From 2005 to 2009, the number of people entering the U.S. illegally declined by nearly 67%, according to the Pew Hispanic Center, from 850,000 yearly average in the early 2000s to 300,000. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con...40_pf.html
And no its not because we got a better policy on immigration reform, its because the economy sucks and those illegals are writing home telling their folk 'Hey, there ain't no Job's in America, in may ways its getting worse than home.'
And what is home?
For about 6 million it is Mexico - well assumed Mexico. However on the southern border we have El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, blah - lots of nations that people are escaping from, come through Mexico and since Mexico is not as bad as home, they get illegal papers declaring themselves as Mexican citizens, then push further north into The States in order to find job opportunities and make enough money to bail their family out of their homeland.
We also have a fairly large illegal population from the Philippines.
On the other side of this coin we have a lot of Europeans who are here illegally and working illegally. They come on a Visa and then decide that they are just too white to be affected by immigration laws.
And by and large they are too white to be affected.
Its more or less really a race issue. If Mexicans where white and spoke English no one would have a problem with them.
