Pix Wrote:My dream last night was odd. I was back on my family's land in Texas, but I didn't dream of Granny or my favorite cousin at all (or even think about them). I was with an uncle and his kids that I only barely get along with and he was saying I could live with him in exchange for helping on the farm and I was agreeing to this. But I would not do this in real life. I might if it were Granny or even my cousin who weren't in the dream, though I have no plans to ever move back.
It was also disturbing because of all the fires. When I was there last summer they were suffering under a horrid heat wave with a burn ban in effect and right after I left the state was hit with severe wildfires, including in their area (though they weren't hit) so I guess that's why I dreamt that part.
Nevertheless, I frequently dream about fires. It started when I was like 5 or 6 and I'd get scared as I'd see a drunken Dad fall asleep in a chair with a lit cigarette in his hand (to this day my objection to cigarettes are primarily their being a fire hazard) and would have nightmares that it would start a fire and the fire would chase me, always right behind me no matter where I ran. As I got older the basic theme stayed the same so that I found myself running from fire. Though in last night's dream I helped fight the fire (not very successfully), which was also unusual.
First, an apology for taking so long to get around to your dream. I haven't had the time I needed to sit down and think about this.
Basically, where I'm gonna start is with the symbol of fire. I can't really speak to the relationships between you and your family because I just don't have enough info at this point.
But fire can be interpreted in several different ways: spiritual, erotic, life giving, illuminating, purifying, transformative.
I think it's that's last one, as a symbol of transformation, that might help you analyze your dream. In some cultures, it seems, the burning of the crops is quite a big celebration in order to usher forth a new season of growing. You made an oblique reference to the change of the seasons by mentioning the heat wave of last summer.
There's also the "transformation", if you will, of the relationship between you and your uncle.
Finally, instead of being "chased" by flames, in this dream you were able to fight back.
I think that was the most important thing I got out of your dream. You were fighting the fire, no longer fearful as you were when you were younger. Not sure if that "fighting back on the family farm" has changed your relationship with your uncle for the better but it might worth considering.
Hope that helps.

72jay Wrote: Its fairly common for me to have dreams where the weather shows up in at least some little way LOL
II actually remembered one from last night (sun/mon) as well
here again the weather shows up ...
I'm at work...
Outside in the parking area in back of it, getting ready to help move some stuff (like furniture/shelves/etc) into their new storage area. The ground is wet because it rained earlier. There's fairly dark clouds in the area, looks like its gonna rain again soon. There's various items sitting out that have been taken off the truck, waiting to be moved in. There is also a fairly large tree sitting back there on some sorta wheeled cart <dream doesn't show cart-thing or exactly how such a tree is on it> this belongs to the buildings owners, not work...I go over & start wheeling it around. It moves very easily (and is stable/no chance of falling over) even though its a fairly large tree. Off in the distance I hear quiet thunder & decide its probably best not to be near the tree.
...
Now i'm inside doing normal work stuff.
I wake up after that... just a bit before my alarm went off LOL. I can pretty much guess where parts of this one came from.
* new storage area/work stuff = At work they are building what amounts to a storage shed
* the tree = not really sure, but i was moving firewood at home on the weekend
* rain/storm = when i got up & looked out the window it was dark (there was more light leaving my bedroom than what was coming in LOL), cloudy & windy..and it rained some 12-20 minutes later.
I frequently can feel weather changes moving through (not a good thing) and i did somewhat feel it before going to bed, so there was that, I probably heard the wind & that became the other weather sounds like thunder...
First, an apology to you as well for taking so long to post a response.
But man, this one is kinda tough for me.
Definitely sounds kind of "stormy" to me. I understand there was an actual storm in progress in real life, but still your mind used that as a back drop for this dream. Do things feel stormy at work? Not to mention, you're doing this work "out back", that is to say, not out in front of God and everybody in broad daylight. (Certainly not implying any unethical behavior. Just suggesting maybe you feel like you've been shut out in the backyard, maybe...)
And the tree, well, we could talk for days about tree symbology right? The tree of knowledge, the tree of life, the symmetry of the tree (roots that mirror branches), the three levels of trees 1) roots = underworld 2) trunk = Earth 3) branches = heavens...
But your tree is NOT planted in the ground (no roots!), it's quite a hefty burden but easily moved. Why? Is it being transplanted? Where?
So the dream starts with you at work, out back, on a stormy day, needing to "move" some stuff, new shed under construction, but you end up moving a tree...
Pretty abstract stuff, wondering if you have any more thoughts? Or if something there rang a bell for you.

On the work part of the dream I truly think that just came from the real life construction at my work (& the fact I probably will end up helping with moving stuff).
The tree .. not sure on the meaning. In the dream it was being moved/saved from construction. (at work they did cut down some trees back in early summer due to construction...but they were evergreen type, not leaf trees like the one in the dream)
The storm .. don't really know, but its not uncommon for me to have dreams with some sorta weather in them.

I semi-often have dreams involving returning to high school in some way. Sometimes as a student at my age, sometimes back in the past, sometimes as an employee...
I dunno why.

I sometimes have what I call "work" dreams too. Just me continuing to "think" (or process) what I've been dealing with for the last week. Those are also pretty literal and not very "symbolic".
But STILL, I think with a certain sensitivity, if we look at all our dreams on different levels (literal and metaphorical) it's time well spent reflecting (meditating) on our lives.

Sometimes you need to learn; sometimes you need to teach.

Occasionally I get dreams like that where I'm back in highschool, sometimes I'm young again a student, other times I'm old(current age) & taking a class, and more rare I'm just there to get some paperwork or something...
The school I went to was also one of the ones that had a shooting (long after I'd graduated) ... I had a couple dreams sometime afterward where I was in the building looking at all the damage that was done (no dead bodies or blood or anything).
In reality I haven't stepped foot in that place since graduating and probably never will.

The last dream I had I was in a lawsuit against an asian company, with some other asian folks. But while we were arguing the guy dropped dead, then the lawyers couldn't decide how to proceede, so I went down the hall into the guys room where he had a duffle bag full of 250$ bills. Which I stole and took outside to the guy I was dating who was also asian. But when we were getting ready to drive away we noticed an alley between some buildings that was covered in all these wires, and at the back was a little boy with a knife. That's all I remember about it :p I have no idea what prompted this asian themed dream since I live in a town which has an asian population of 20 people Oo
That same night I also had a dream I was a Jedi fighting other Jedi. That one's a little hazy but I remember I was floating and ended up on top of a barn fighting them.

Holy cow. First one is very abstract. The boy with the knife...was he Asian too?
Second dream might be a good example of a "shadow figure"...that is to say, another figure in the dream that is another YOU. A "doppelganger" so to speak.
Hard to say without knowing more about you and the dreams...not to mention I'm pretty wiped out right now. Just wanted to make a response and see if you could add any more info.
Thanks for sharing your dreams.

I dreamed a very strange dream this night. I was a member of some big community where the deal was to legalize some strange white molded cheese that got you really high when you ate it, and you had to eat it with an alive golden fish for some reason I do not remember. As we also marched many protests against the Swedish Parliament to get it legalized. I also remembered that the sky was magenta colored for some reason (Pink, purple, orange mixed).
After it I woke up and had to pee in the middle of the night.
When I laid back to sleep I had that mountain top chair dream again, only this time the color of the sky was exactly the same as the dream I dreamed earlier during that night (as the other Mountain top chair dreams sky color was sunset) and time was going really fast, atleast double the speed from the previous Mountain -11- dream. Why? :O
