As I pointed out to Wes on another thread, California is not liberal. The coasts are, L.A. San Francisco. however you head eastward and you hit very conservative territory. I live in that area, and each time 'controversial' votes come up nearly every one puts up a sign saying 'NO' to the gay, to the stem cell research to everything that conservatives love to hate.

This 'uncounted' population is still a majority holder in such votes. And will most likely push it down again.

Sorry but to be pernickety but it has not reached the U.S. Supreme Court. It has reached the 9th Circuit Appeals Court.

As far as I can tell the smart Supreme Court watchers reckon that the court is well aware of where the wind is blowing, but won't get too far ahead of the country. When the case is appealed to the Supreme Court (which it certainly will), the court would be keen to find a legal technicality to avoid having to actually issue a judgement on same-sex marriage. The most obvious technicality would be the proponents standing to appeal, in which case Judge Walker's original ruling would stand.

Eventually if they continue to fight in all aspects of areas in america it will be as equal and legal etc in all states than just the odd ones... I know in the uk we have conservative communites etc but when it was all made law everywhere had to legally bide to it
