DIVA: Well, traditionally it was reserved for great female ARTISTS of the stage (so Sarah Bernhardt, Bette Davis, and Meryl Streep could be counted) . Usually that title indicates a tempestuous personality accompanied by a tempestuous personal life. In recent years it has come to mean any talentless hack that a gay man happens to like (e.g. Britney Spears, cringe).
