Photo recovery software

There is something wrong with my photo camera card. I see photos on camera screen but can't copy them to computer. Card looks empty when it's full, I'm sure it's some kind of virus anyway, I'm looking for software which helps you recover deleted or damaged files. Once I had it and it was working fine then I re-installed windows and lost the program. I don't remember name of it. Now I searched all over internet and couldn't find the one which is FREE. because there are tons of trial and demo versions. Maybe anyone has one in the computer and can tell me a name? Thanks.

your a bad gay for putting critical files on any type of usb flash card. The technology is unstable.
try it on another pc: xp win7 or mac.

Or you could download a Linux LiveCD, boot the cd and try to recover the photos from there without having to install any programs on to your hard drive.

I downloaded all three programs and installed them but none of them was free. in the end they asked me to get a license.

Sorry, dfian, I didn't get what you mean? Is it a program name? I don't have a CD, I want to recover files from camera memory stick. Actually photos are not deleted they are jut not visible on computer only on camera.

Linux is an operating system, but free. Like Ubuntu or Linux Mint. You can download them and burn them to disc and run it as a 'live' session, meaning that you just run it from CD/DVD.

It will often do things that window can't, and if there is a virus on your Memory Card, Linux won't activate it or be affected by it. Simply recover the files while in the 'Live'session, put on your hard drive, reboot and remove the CD and you boot straight back into windows.

I did try this card on other computers and it's the same. Then I found a solution, I was copying files from card to camera built-in memory and copying from camera. 12 photos each time. That was so tiring but it worked. Now I have a video which is larger than camera built-in memory so I have to find another solution.
About searching I already installed an removed 11 programs and they all were non-free even though they say free, because they say "free trial version" or "free 1 GB" or something like that.

No, just boot Linux with the cd, put your card into the slot like you would in Windows, The live session of linux should discover it and ask you what you want to do. You then select view files and then you can transfer them from the card to your hard drive.

I helped myself in the end. I remembered the name of that software I had used before.
I'm posting this because if anyone ever find this thread this might be helpful so the name of the software is PC inspector file recovery. It's absolutely free and very useful.
