If there is a god, he certainly wont be a genie that will make wishes come true. He created earth and moved on, gave us a gift, life, so live the way you bloody want to live because one day it might be gone and the only thing matters is if we have lived a life that you could call a bliss, or a life in agony.
Sometimes you need a bit of chaos in your life to be able to shrug off pitiful disdain about something meaningless.
I'm not sure. I believe in dimensions and forces that are different from our plane of perception, but even then not necessarily a "higher" power. I believe somewhat in serendipity, and quasi-magical thinking - the ability to recognise that you are projecting an illusion of meaningfulness onto reality, but also recognising that it does not matter, as it brings you happiness.
The word "God" has come to mean about ten billion things, which leads to terminal confusion -- or, worse, interminable confusion, unending....
If Dog meant what God does, Dog would remain silent ... and would issue a Divine Command that no person should ever again utter His Name.
What Dog Said on the Seventh Day after Breakfast:
Thou shalt burry thine own bones in the garden, under the green hose, beside the white chickens.
Thou shalt not utter word of it.
Pray thee only in closets or bark forever under the golden moon! But utter not My Name, lest thou shall blaspheme; and never again use a semicolon in broad daylight. Period.

Edit:
Hmm. This is weird. It's got my curiosity up. See, my last attempt to post here was not allowed to proceed normally, and I'm unaware of any rule which I have broken. Perhaps the computer innards did not approve of my mystical naturalism, a.k.a., nontheistic spirituality, or maybe it was the playful poke at the Nose of Gawd that did the trick? That dang Old Man In The Sky has infiltrated the Internets! Eeeek!
Nah any religion to be fair isn't my cup of tea, basically I think nowadays most people only go to church for either a funeral or a wedding so they have something nice on their wedding photo's lol
I grew up in a Baptist household, attended a private Baptist elementary school, and spent a good portion of my teen/early adult years trying to figure out my religious beliefs, not being very happy with Christianity (I'd say more but for the sake of offending others I'll hold my tongue.) I tried experimenting from everything to Wicca to Buddhism to even LaVey's Satanism.
Nothing seemed to speak to me or feel right however...so about three years ago I said to myself "Why fight it and continue to gild the lily? You're an atheist deep down and you know it. And here I am, a godless heathen and proud of it.
This may be my favorite thread - you've all provided wonderful insights and perspectives in these 7 pages.
The answer to the question depends on what is meant by 'God' I guess...I don't believe in God as some old guy with a white beard who's pissed off at everyone. 'God' to me is the closest, most convenient term to refer to this unapproachable 'something,' this perfectly beautiful mystery that even calling it a 'thing' or 'it' doesn't do justice, but to suggest that it is 'beyond' being called 'it' or 'thing' (or that justice needs to be done to it) would be to limit it, to say something about it that doesn't really get at the heart of it. But to suggest that it can be limited or even that it needs to be unlimited...it's also not right. This mystery recedes infinitely at any attempt to approach it in communicable terms. It's like a necessary paradox, and you worship it through laughter because it's inherently baseless and unquestionable and ridiculous and beautiful but none of those things. That's God to me. I know this makes no sense but that's kind of the point, I guess.
I dont really believe that there is any God up there, but I believe in destiny, that everything is meant to be, but I am still the one who controll my life,.... if you guys get what I mean
I'm a Neo-Pagan, so my beliefs and spirituality will differ from the average Judeo-Christian faiths.
I grew up Roman Catholic, but after awhile it didn't really fit with my view of the world. Believing in an angry god who constantly judges your every move is not how I want to view my world.
I see the Divine in everyone and in everything. Within me and outside of me, it's both masculine and feminine. It's both light and dark, has many names or none at all.
