Can't find "normal" gay people?

Well for one thing, I may be Canadian but even I can see that the Republicans would be about as accepting of a gay person looking for gay friends in their group as a member of the KKK would be at an NAACP conference... I think you probably realize that too which makes it seem like you're really just taking a shot at him.

I said GAY REPUBLICANS...there are hundreds of thousands of GAY REPUBLICANS...they are well organized...they have lots of groups...they tout "normal" behavoir for gay men.

Conservative gay men generally feel the same way as the original poster.

I know how you feel but like others said you'll find people like this you just need to look for them. I am pretty gay, I like some feminine stuff and I keep up with fashion but most of people I meet cant tell that I'm gay.
My boyfriend is totally straight acting. Sometimes I tell him if I didnt see you in bed Id say your straight haha ..

I forgot to add...here in the SF Bay Area we have a local gay mainstream talk show host and he has discussed this "T" being included in the GLBT community..he also feels that he has nothing in common with "T" and has had at least one show that I can remember where this is the topic.

His name is Karel and he on on KGO...

Maybe you can find the transcript of one of the shows on the topic...I remember the one I tuned in to the whole hour was pretty interesting. I am neutral on the topic myself...having heard both sides of the issue I can see both points of view.

you have to expand your field.
Associate with republicans, know them better so they dont hurt you every time. gay or straight a camp individual can tell you a lot about acceptance and relationships.

go for the basics; respectful, easy to confide in, can maintain the relationship you want.

I've addressed why it is vital that the T be included in the LGBT grouping, because whether or not gay people feel they identify with the causes of the transgender movement, they are implicated in it by virtue of behaving out of accordance with dominant conceptions of gender. Saying the transgenders have nothing in common with gay people is incredibly narrow minded, for one there are gay people who have transgender identities or are effected by transgender issues. I.e. cross-dressers and effeminate men. And transgenders are effected by the same legal system that discriminates on the basis of social organization along gender.

The Marxist philosopher Gramsci wrote about a concept called the shifting equilibrium of hegemony. This is essentially what is happening here, we've fought enough to get a large section of our community accepted into the normative discourse, so some of us want to dump the excess baggage of the gay rights movement. Who were at the forefront of the Stonewall riots? Male prostitutes and transvestites. The transgenders have been with the movement, at least in the USA and Canada, since the very beginning. And we're going to dump them after they have helped us achieve so much? The problem with the gay community is precisely this lack of a sense of history, of community, and of shared struggle. We are constantly called on by the dominant discourse to identify with the normative mainstream rather than each other. We are slowly becoming nothing more than a target demographic for the capitalist machine, a pink dollar, and our only locus of cultural association is reduced to designer labels and pornography.

Lgbt issues are gender issues. It's all about society demanding gender conformity. Men marry women women should marry men. Both should act and dress in a particular society is comfortable with.
