cooking
I feel I should be contributing to this thread...ok, here goes.

One heaped spoon of coffee
Two heaped spoons of sugar (White or raw, what ever your preference)
Approx 25ml Milk

Place Coffee and sugar into a mug. Add water to an automatic water cooker ( If find these easier to use, it gets the water just right. I tend to over cook the water and end up with the charred remains of water.). Once the water bubbles and the automatic water cooker switches itself off, add the water to the mixture in the mug, do not over fill as you still have to add milk.

Stir until sugar has disolved and then add milk to your taste.

A variation of this recipe can be without milk, and more or less sugar (You can even use no sugar)

Serve warm with chocolate biscuits. I recommend Tim Tams Smile

Jake, I'm planning to do your Stuffed Peppers on this weekend. But I don't think we have Worcestershire sauce in here. Is there any other sauce that I can use to replace Worcestershire sauce?

Daz, I have the urge to come to your house and cook for you now.

I'll be cooking lunch for my colleagues and boss on this Monday in the office. Nothing fancy as I am under a tight schedule right now. So I'm just going to do Chicken Pita and some other simple stuff. The method to prepare the chicken is almost similar to the Cayenne Pepper Chicken that I made for myself few days ago.

Jay, I don't know. I did a search and there doesn't seem to be a substitute for Worcestershire sauce. Maybe leave it out? Maybe soy sauce?

Is the sauce essential for the recipe? I'll see what I can do.

Unfortunately I'm not able to cook it today. I just got back from work. It's almost 7.30pm. Too tired to cook. Need to continue to finish my work.

I'll try to find time to do your recipe next weekend, Jake. Thanks for helping me to find a substitute! I appreciate the effort.

The other day I testing out a new knife and I discovered the magic of stir fried onions.

If any one has ever had black pepper sizzling plate beef at a chinese restaurant, you'll know the taste of those charred onions on the bottom!

I cut an onion in half longitudinally, and then proceeded to slice it up so that little curved strips formed. I heated a non stick frying pan in my case, but probably best to use a wok, to incredibly high heat, added some oil, and threw in the onions with dashes of soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce salt, sesame oil, and lots of ground black pepper. Like LOTS. maybe like a half tablespoon or more. as much as you need to see lovely black speckles of pepper in the dish. then I cooked it until tender but still a bit crunchy. I'm not quite sure on the ingredients, so here are some other bits and bobs I might have added in: mirin, ponzu sauce.

It actually tastes really good for such a simple snack O_O I put it on bread.

It's like a cross between the onions at sausage sizzles and the sizzling plate chinese black pepper onions.
I know it sounds stupid and simple but it's so reminiscent of that sizzling plate dish >.< and onions are the best.

Oh I know that feeling right now. 3 1/2 hours sleep and I am back at work. Massive day of meetings and interviews...Having some serious issues with a team member and a possible fraudulent injury claim, on top of that I have 5 team members off sick or on holidays last week, 3 this week and no staff to fill empty shifts...I only have 8 team members.

Anyway, to not take this reply totally off topic, recipe time.

ICED WATER.

Take a tumbler.
Fill with water and top up with ice.
Garnish with lemon or lime slice to make a refreshing summer time beverage.

I don't think it's essential. Just leave it out. I think it just adds a little flavor to the meat.

Hope you have a restful evening, Jay!

Adding lemon is how I often drink my water. It's refreshing.

Forgot to mention.

I made Chicken Pita for all the girls in my office. Male colleagues were absent. So I served only to the girls (That includes my boss).

I didn't snap a photo though.

I used this Chicken Pita recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs chicken breasts, trimmed of all visible fat
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne
Additional ingredients
  • 4 loaves pita bread (halved)
  • 1 onion, sliced (red or yellow)
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1 cucumber, sliced thin
As a condiment or sauce:
  • Tahini sauce, hummus, mayonnaise, or garlic yogurt sauce

Preparation:

In a medium bowl combine all chicken ingredients together and allow to marinate at least two hours. Remove chicken from marinade and slice about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thin.

Pour 3-4 tablespoon of olive oil in a medium frying pan. Heat to a medium high and add chicken. Cook chicken for about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally for even cooking.

In a medium bowl combine chicken with veggies. Add desired sauce or condiment. Use desired amount.

Heat pita loaves in oven or microwave. Stuff pita with chicken and veggies.
