Thats kind of tricky. Some consider them Sea Slugs(that's what we call them) but some call them Sea Cucumbers. Generally Sea Cucumbers are a relative to the Sea Slug or is actually a Sea Slug itself, but some people just call all Sea Slugs, Sea Cucumbers. I thought though that people called them Sea Slugs, but I guess not :p . Sea Cucumbers for us are those black spongey ones, but I guess for other's it's just a Sea Slug in general Smile (Did I repeat myself or what? Biglaugh )

 So, that is where the whole fairytale about the frog and the prince came from?
umm... Yes? Smile Perhaps they were intoxicated when the whole "prince and the frog" thing came about :p ... don't lick and drive people! Smile .

It doesn't seem to be working with me

I am just taken aback by the their variety...

Maybe you can get some. I'm sure there's some out in Prague's waters :p. We have some, but they're deep sea creatures, so we'd have to go out far on the edge of the island probably :p .

That's the trouble with common names, they are different depending upon where you are, hence why I like to use phrases like Echinoderms and whatnot... lol

:p

Yeah, I like referring to animals by their scientific name, but not everyone is animal savvy like that, so I just try to keep it simple :p .

I keep saying Otala Lactea or Rumina Decolotta when talking about my Snails, rather than using their common names (Milk/Spanish Snail & Spiral Snail respectively) or even the names I gave them Tongue.

I'm such a bad mommy Wink .

I'd simply like to say:
Cypangopaludina Chinesismaleata.... that awarded me a couple of extra points on a final exam in my advanced bio class some odd 5 years ago... LOL Chinese apple snail.

Trees are really my thing, but I have a good idea of the major phyla and classes of several different animals...

Ahem... I reiterate my previous post-picture :p

Rofl .

I used to be extremely interested in Botany and Horticulture, but I find animals to be more entertaining. Still love nature in general, including trees and plants, but I don't think I want to study them any more.

The only things I'm really any good at is Music and Animal Research/Husbandry :p .

^ ... sorry  Ecology is my field and plants are my thing, however....

back to the original topic, snails are really awesome, and despite never having them simply as pets, we have had them in our fish-tanks before, and I generally had more fun watching them over the fish... especially their cute little scrapey tongues (radulae, sorry if too much, but it would simply seem inconsistent at this point... ), so fascinating to watch them graze.

That's cool Smile .

Yes, we got off topic alittle :p .

Snails are interesting and I too love their Radula :p . I call them snail-kissies, cause it feels like a dog-kiss, cause their tongue rubs on you when you hold them Smile . Plus, their loud feeding at night actually helps me sleep :p .

I'm like "ahh, the sound of vegetation being torn apart molecular strand, by molecular strand, until nothing is left by morning Smile " and then I go to sleep.
