And there are still powerful people, in the USA at least, who claim this isn't happening....

NYC was talking about building a sea wall to protect against rising sea levels and flooding from big storms like Sandy, but I haven't heard anything about it for a while. Considering the vast amount of people who live along coast lines globally, sitting back and doing nothing is going to make us vulnerable to a serious refugee crisis (which the world has already shown itself unable to handle on a smaller scale)... Not to mention the consequences of other climate change disasters not related to rising sea levels.

Ideally I'd like to think that because this is a threat to humanity on a global scale, we would be able to unite in some way to prepare and protect. I certainly believe in the potential of human creativity and ingenuity to create life saving infrastructure and systems - I don't think it's beyond our capabilities to save ourselves. But somehow, looking at how things are now, I can see it going down the opposite way.
Hopefully that's just me being dark though.

until we find a an eco friendly alternative to oil then this trend will continue until we reach the point of no return and we destroy the ozone layer completely - wait while the money men destroy both the poles drilling for their precious crude too...that will speed the climate disasters up pretty fast - I don't care what treaty is signed about no drilling in those protected areas.....money trumps everything - here in the UK we have greenbelt land that is protected by law from building , our government sells it off to the highest bidder on a regular basis giving tenuous reasons at best when they are found out

There are actual claims that the ozone layer is in fact repairing itself and getting smaller. I remember reading this story a short while back which explained that the hole was shrinking.
