Chrysler Dodge Sucks
#1
As some of you may know that I recently changed vehicles... I had a 2015 Dodge Challenger which I bought locally. The transmission failed the day I bought it, it was a band new car with 100 miles roughly when it was towed back to the dealer. There were a few other minor issues with the car.

However a lot of people have a wide array of complaints about Dodge, mostly transmission related, not quite so surprisingly...

When I was in Driver's Ed I drove a Plymouth Breeze, turns out it was a death trap...

Chrysler Fiat Wink

Grrrrr my brain for some reason got the Charger mixed up with challenger lol.

New cars aren't always the best idea I've found over the years. All got to put up with these stupid little things that go wrong with them.

Was your car under warranty still?

Oh the Challenger? Yeah it was 1 day old, well I bought it new...

I traded it in and got a Prius. No issues so far, but there is a recall over the parking brake, but otherwise no issues so far.

Used cars can be both good and bad. I haven't had too bad of luck with used, but that was a while back and the newer cars all have more electronics to break, so it just depends on how well engineered some of these cars are. The Prius, well my sister has an 07, I had a Prius "c" before I bought the Challenger.

GM is not a whole lot better. I had a Pontiac G3 (Same as an Aveo and some other models). It was alright for about 100,000 miles and did have some issues. At the end I had a wheel bearing starting to fail, transmission was making noise, had to replace the radiator and valve cover gasket leaking oil down the side of the engine...and the timing belt needed to be replaced... Some of it maintenance related I know and then I find out the pulleys for the timing belt were made of plastic and had the habit of breaking which wrecks all your valves and pretty much ends the car.

I suppose they all have their issues of sorts but Dodge definitely had a long long history of sucking at least over here...

Fiat is now part of Chrysler. I think the slogan people here have for Fiat is, "Fix It Again Timmy!"

I've never owned one, so I can't relate.

I've been looking for a mid-sized pickup or a crossover SUV so any info helps.

Well I did drive a Tacoma for 2 weeks, it was a fully loaded one, 4x4, I got about 22-23 MPG when I drove it...it was fun to drive. I had it to drive while my old Prius "c" was in for warranty work. A friend of mine had a Tacoma as well, says he misses it lol. As for an SUV, a friend of mine...actually the other friend's partner lol Got a Toyota RAV4 hybrid. My advice if you go that route don't bother with the hybrid...if you want a hybrid get a prius...otherwise they're just silly.

Honda CRV is a good reliable car...Interesting find was that Honda CRV owners keep their vehicle longer than any model.... #2 was the Prius. I used to be buy American but after the last few domestic vehicles...sorry not sorry. I can definitely see that Toyota and Honda make a better product....

Stay away from Mercedes....unless you like a bunch of features and crap that break.

I have heard relatively good things about Subaru, however, I also hear they like blowing head gaskets at 150,000 miles...

You probably know what my thoughts are on Dodge & Chrysler...

My mom had this GMC truck and she bought an extended warranty from the dealer. So she had major transmission problems and they had the whole damn thing in pieces in the garage and then called her up and said she bought the wrong warranty and it wasn't covered. Lol she went batshit. I mean, THEY sold her the warranty and now it's wrong. She ended up getting the truck fixed and the full price of the warranty refunded (she can be very *ahem* assertive. She sold the whole mess and went back to a Ford 150. My whole family tend toward Fords.

I'm driving a 2013 Ford Escape that I bought from my uncle, and I love it. Totally reliable. Where I live, you need a car that's going to handle snow and ice well,, and this one does.

Lincoln just brought back the Continental for 2017. Gorgeous. But at 60K, it's just a teensy bit out of my range lol. Waiting for one of my uncles to buy one so I can at least drive it. The way traffic is here, this is what I need - Tank

Gemini Ford is pretty good, probably the best for domestic... I do think Ford has had it's share of blunders, just not as bad as Chrysler...or GM for that matter. Ford and GM over the years have had very good cars and trucks. Although from what I see on the road, I see way more old Ford F-150's than Chevy Silverado's and almost no Dodge trucks. I see people driving around 25+ year old trucks quite often. However, that's not the case with Ford Escort's...then again those have been economy cars that weren't designed to last...

Anyway, it just boils down to what you're after...

There's also the million mile Ford Econoline Van...

Actually 1.4 million miles...

Jeep what?

Then again, Dodge people will say all the same about Ford.

I dislike that there aren't many choices when it comes to smaller pickups. It also stinks that most of crossover's are only 4 cylinders.
