Horned up chat

Do you watch porn? Do you masturbate? Why, since there's no second-person-sexual-contact?

Is internet sex as good as real sex? No, usually not. Steaks are better than burgers, too, but I've had some damn good burgers in my life. Smile

Well I get that...but what's the difference between that and watching porn or whatever. That's what I'm getting at.

Dude. Porn is like reading a book. A one-way interaction: Porn producer > Porn consumer. Online interaction is (at least) two way: Porn producer/consumer < > Porn producer/consumer.

(Not that I know anything about this, you understand.)

Partially, yes, but there's more to it than that.

I'm a gargoyle who would generally rather read a book than watch a movie. And would rather read erotica than watch porn. Not that I object to movies or porn, or never watch them. But they have some inherent problems. They're extremely heavily literal and linear. What you see is what you get, and they move forward at the rate that they move forward. You can hit the pause button, of course, but it can get clumsy.

The written word engages a different part of my brain. The words force my brain to get creative. My brain is forced to paint the picture, to fill in the gaps, to decide what direction to go. Quite often, my brain will leap off from what I'm reading into a completely different direction. And I can follow that direction. If I'm watching a movie, even if it does ignite my creativity, I have trouble following it anywhere - the movie is busy pushing the plot forward, showing me what happens next. With the written word, it's a lot easier to just stop and let my brain take me somewhere new.

Internet sex is the same sort of thing. The words ignite not just my genitals but my creativity. Both in how I read what was written to me, but in what I decide to write back. It's definitely not for everybody, but I really enjoy it with the right kind of guy. Smile

He doesn't seem too chatty, though.

"So, what are you wearing?"
"Baaaaa...."

It makes sense. I just would find it a bit awkward. I would feel a bit uncomfortable partaking in that. But I think that is partially to some other personal issues... I don't find myself to be all that attractive, at least not in that sense to be on a webcam...I'm assuming webcams are involved... I'm not knocking it or think differently about people who do internet sex, I'm merely curious about what the hoopla is about.

Keep in mind I live in a rural area and not very many gay guys around nor has there been anyone to really talk to about these sort of things...among other things.

Webcams can be involved, certainly, if you'd like. Or it can just be text-based, with or without occasional snapshot photos sent back and forth. That's what this particular encounter was - the guy in my story wanted a picture of the sole of my feet, and I obliged. It just depends on what both parties feel like doing.

As far as you not being attractive...I think people who have never done it do tend to get a bit of a wrong idea. First off, they seem to think I'm looking for guys with supermodel looks and twelve-inch dicks. And while I probably wouldn't turn such a guy away, no, that's not what I'm hoping/expecting to find. I'm totally fine having internet sex (and non-internet sex) with "regular guys". In fact, some of my best encounters have been with guys who weren't necessarily all that attractive.

...which THEN leads people to believe I'm...desperate? Indiscriminate? Something like that. But that's not correct either. I don't put myself out there saying "anybody want to have a turn at the gargoyle - line forms to the left". I do have "standards". But the standards aren't of a physical type. I'm looking for a guy who meshes well with me. Where the interaction feels natural and fun and pleasant and enjoyable. I've started chatting with guys who seemed really attractive at the outset, and after about a minute-long conversation, I've decided I have no interest at all. It's a lot tougher to put qualifiers on - it's easier for other guys to picture "hot guy" than "guy who interacts with me well". But that's the way it works with me.

And a quick hint. You don't have to find yourself attractive. The OTHER guy just has to find you attractive. And, as they used to say on the internet, axle - "9/10 would bang". Smile

Actually I wasn't think about any of those things at all... Just curious. I never really got into swapping pictures and all that, just didn't feel good doing it is all... I blame that for my time wasted on Grindr, at least around here a lot of the guys on there are pricks and do expect a supermodel with a 12" dick. I have had people outright call me ugly and never had previous interaction with them...it happened on more than one occasion too. It is easy to make assumptions like that but while I might be naive and ignorant about a lot of things I am pretty open minded for the most part. So a lot of times when I ask questions it's not "ewww, internet sex!" it more like "what's the hype about? Am I missing out on something?"

Anyway, I think everyone is entitled to do whatever they please so long they're not hurting anyone else...but that doesn't include feelings, people get their butts hurt too often these days.
