Angry.....I wrote an essay the other day about the subject of texting and how I feel it is detrimental to the English language...I made no personal attacks in this essay, I never questioned the intelligence or linguistic skills of those who enjoy texting....I merely outlined my arguments and left it at that.
Within the hour, my email address was being bombarded with tons of people sending me very insulting messages "ignorant" and "close minded" and most astonishingly of all "bigoted" regarding my thesis. What hurt was one of these people sending me these lovely little homilies was someone I thought was a friend.
*sigh* gotta love a society where nobody seems to understand that its ok to disagree with someone, but do so in a civil manner and not resort to name calling like a two year old. Honestly, I don't know why this is bothering me as much as it seems....guess I was just flabbergasted at how knee-jerk some people seem to be to insult those they don't agree with.
