So today I had a piano audition that I've been working towards for over a year now. The required pieces were far beyond what I would've considered my skill level, and I haven't had any actual instruction in over ten years and I've barely played at all since then. I had to reteach myself piano basically.... and I passed the audition!

I now get to study privately with this virtuoso here on campus and I'll have to start performing in public (very scary).

I've been failing a lot lately, I messed up a separate audition about three months ago, failed at securing two different music based jobs, and didn't get cast at all for the college play... so I really needed this, or else I was going to start seriously thinking about pointing my life in a different direction.

On top of that, some cute guy that works at the coffee shop just gave me a free cappuccino cause he says "I'm always here." Did I blow my guardian angel in my sleep last night or something?

Im not a fan of piano, I prefer harpsichord.

I will tell you a secret to playing the piano though.......if you can master "Flight of the Bumblebee" on piano, you can do ANYTHING on piano! You also have to find a "gimmick" for yourself....whether its wearing a specific outfit for each performance or doing something "tricky" with the piano keys while playing, or a "signature" ending.....you've got to find something that makes you stand out from everybody else.








There was a comedian/actor/pianist who had a "signature" to the end of everything he played. Plus, he had his own flair for how he played. I cannot remember his name, but he was awesome.
