Drinking doesn't help the infection. .
It slows your immune system.

In all fairness, alcohol would do wonders controlling that Streptococcus, on the tissue surfaces, at least....but it's non selective, I fear, and equally toxic to both the pathogens and your cells (including the macrophages that are already localized at the site of infection and trying to help you), it would also delay healing....
