My turn to be pissed off.

Get this, my dad asks me what I do for a work. We live under the same roof. As much as I avoid talking to him we do talk about important things like this. Now, I've been with my current employers for little over a year and the guy just asked me a few minutes ago where do I work and what do I do.

Why do I even bother.

Well that's pretty odd and kinda sad your dad isn't more "in tune" with what's going on in your life. .
So..
This brings us back to you making a decision. .

I understand you do not get along with your folks as well as you'd love to..
BUT..
Avoiding small talk with your dad is definitely not the answer.

Do you want him to be more involved ?

If your Dad knows you avoid him sometimes .. maybe he is choosing not to be "so involved " ..
