Definitely. You should never accept someone doing that to you. And don't self yourself short. Clearly you can get a man interested in you, so, really that's all it takes. The rest is fiding a man that appreciates who you are.

Yeah, I figured his past was the past sense that was before we met, and I proceeded slow with caution as I started with trying to build trust on the road to building something real, but that was unacceptable as you said. True, just have to find the right man who appreciate me for who I am and whom I can appreciate in return moving forward. Just have to keep at it, and not lose hope.
