I wouldn't say I have a high proficiency, so much as I do a large vocabulary. You see my main weakness with Japanese, is Nuance, cause unlike any other language I know;
As I'm sure you know, Japanese has got a ridiculous amount of "isms" that English certainly doesn't have and I have to remember those things the most.
I wanna go ahead and Skip N5 and go into N4, because N5 focuses mainly on Vocab and general understanding;
And I'm not fluent, but I have been learning (off and on) since I was 15, so I can get by and perhaps I may even Skip to N3, if the N4 test example is anything to go by.
I just wanna as I said; Focus on upping my nuance skills, cause translating words is pretty easy, but understanding the "whys" and "whens" to use a word or phrase is what's kicking my ass a lil LoL.
I often write Japanese (and other language ) short stories and recently as per recommended to me by a Japanese CEO here on my island; A little thread I titled GCLnT (Game Culture Localization and Translation);
In an endeavour to build up my repertoire of Video game vocabulary, as I want to at some point do Localization as well as the hand in hand Translation aspect of it as well.
No one on my Island right now is really doing it and I figured this would also be a good way to help foster new opportunities and so forth, both for my self and for my island.
Starting as small as a Video Game tho of course xD
I think you could definitely go for N3 at least, your Japanese is definitely better than mine. I've stopped watching anime for a few years and since then, it's not improving. Way to go with your GCLnT work gurl~!
I'm not so sure what did you mean by nuance and "isms" here, my linguistic terminology sucks. You mean something like suffix?
Good luck with your JLPT~! Now I feel inspired to take N3 myself, been wanting to take my Japanese to the next level. :3
