got a new stand in shift manager at work...known him a long time and hes a pretty god guy - actually hope we get him full time..hes trying to impress by pushing us but weve all risen to the challenge - got thx from him all round this morning after our shift for doing extra work - Deffo miss miss my old boss who knew my temperament though...best man manager i ever had

It's always sad to lose a colleague with whom you got on well, or sufficiently well. Always a bit of a chore to adapt to the new person in charge, especially when they aren't that competent (which, fortunately, yours is).
