Ok so the son of a Nazi that managed to survive Russia and Italy and then escape to Chile and who's family aided in turning "dissidents" to the Pinochet dictatorship to be tortured and executed DID NOT win the presidency. Yay. Still, 44% voted for that precious piece of humanity. Disappointed, but not surprised.
I'm decently surprised with Boric tbh. Quickly getting the biggest minimum wage increase in 30 years, sacking the head of the IRS put there by accord of politicians from left to right to NOT pursue charges against them when they were under investigation for illegal campaign funds, not wasting a second in signing the Escazú Agreement. Lowering crime rate in some troublesome neighbourhoods. He will still have massive issues with the migration crisis at the northern border and the never ending conflict in the south. But all in all, I'm actually happy with my vote.Â
As of November 2021 Chile legalized same-sex marriage with adoption rights. Yay. I will never understand why the conservative Piñera administration picked up on this Bachelet-signed law proposal, let alone getting it approved in Congress, after literally 4 years of shitting or trying to shit on pretty much everything her government did, but I also don't care, it's done. So, anyways, applications will be open for the husband position at some point (?). Will have to think about requirements and maybe a contract or something, I dunno.
Apparently I was here last before there was a full-fledged European war and Murica just diving right into a Christ-o-fascist wet dream (boy, that Trump presidency is the gift that keeps on giving eh?), so....hey...how is everyone doing...you ok?
I think I am. Although sometimes I remember I'm an adult living in today's world and that feeling is less nice.
Bonus track: I finally got COVID two weeks ago. Blame Primavera Sound. Weird sickness but it went away quickly, so A+ for the T CD8+ memory cells the vaccination scheme kindly provided for me. Did their job thoroughly those intense fuckers.
