holy fuck, what a day...
so this morning, I went out to my car to go to work (we had a snow storm yesterday I might add), and when I tried to back out of my parking spot, my car didn't go anywhere. Well shit, so I got the bag of traction sand and applied it to the ice under my wheels. Well after several attempts and emptying the whole bag of sand, my car still wouldn't budge - the parking lot is also on a slope, which wasn't helping at all.
Anyway, so when I saw I was alreading 15 minutes late for work, I decided it was probably to call a taxi. So I went back inside and picked up my phone... to discover it was dead... damnit all! So now I'm stuck with no car and no phone to call anyone. But I decided maybe if I was lucky there might be someone from work on facebook who could help, and lo and behold there was. So I frantically messeged them and tried to get their attention, but after about 10 minutes of no response, I gave up... for fucks sake!
AHA! I see a girl brushing off her car outside, so I run down stairs and go up to her and beg if she can give me a ride. She was a little hesitant, but since she going near where I was, she agreed. Funny enough it turns out that she and I had a couple classes back when I was at university (7 years ago).
So the only thing was that she had to go downtown to drop something off for work before she went to where I had to go. On the way, we were on this turn pike and some asshole cuts her off and she had to slam on her breaks (remember the snow storm I mentioned), she starts swerving and we end up doing a 360 on the turn pike. Fortunately the other cars managed to slow down and stop before hitting us. But the girl turned around and got back on the road easily enough...
so after all that, she does what she needs to and then drives me to work. I was only an hour late.
The only addition I'll make was that there was someone at work who was going to be off the same time as me and lives close, so I asked if I could get a ride back with her. She agreed, however, unbeknownest to me, she ended up leaving at lunch time because she was feeling sick. So I had to take a cab home.
And the cherry on top, when I got home I went to my car and decided to give it another try to move it, and just like that the stupid thing backs out like nothing... so I parked in a different spot that was more level and less covered by snow.
That was my day... the whole ordeal has exhausted me.
