Lame...either way.
The landlord of my current building is selling the land to a developer, hasn't sold it yet, but I sort of panicked when I saw that, because my landlord is a flake to begin with. Once it sells I'd have gotten 3 months notice before having to leave.
I'm a person who needs security and doesn't like dealing with flakey people or working on other people's timelines. And I had some crazy luck that my aunt knows someone who is renting a huge, beautiful, loft in Staten Island. It's 1000 sq feet which is like 3x what my current place is. I like getting shit done asap so I checked it out and applied for it, and got it.
So now I have to move all my stuff via bus / subway / ferry / bus. And swallow my pride about moving to Staten Island.... I'm going to miss Brooklyn but honestly, I was starting to not recognize it anymore and really hate what it's become, and was going to get priced out sooner rather than later anyway. I figure I've got at least a few years on Staten Island before the hipsters gentrify it too.
