Weather Update:
- Senate passed the bill for that 10% withdrawal from pension funds. The final votes in both houses were 2/3 and over 3/4 so government had to admit defeat. I mean, it died on 2019.10.18 for all intents and purposes, but this is a new level of dead.
*Ya está muertoooo* LOL
-Government finally agreed to cash transfers to people who reduced or lost their source of income and a no interest loan to be repaid in 4 years (it does consider inflation though). Let us se how that goes.
-I see cases rising again in most quadrants in my city. Not at all surprised about that, but man...are we going to have a 4-month lockdown? Santiago certainly did.
-A Senator with a strong affinity to the Pinochet dictatorship (as one of his designated mayors in the 80s) and also a staunch defender of Paul Schäfer (i.e. a Nazi that escaped to Chile and ran a closed German immigrant community used as a torture and detention center by Pinochet and also a notorious child abuser) just became the new Interior Minister. Yup, that happened.
-Cue a renewed conflict with mapuche communities in the Araucanía region a day after he travelled there. It's not like the Chilean State has ever had any semblance of a good relationship with the country's indigenous communities, but this is something else. Can't wait what he will have police do once protests inevitably start again. I predict more dead mapuche and more dead protesters.
-So, I still can't go to the Spanish Consulate to get my documents, since it's lockdown mode here and there. Maybe it will be lifted soon over the decreasing cases, but as I noted before, here they are picking up agaaaaaaaain so I don't know. It doesn't matter anyway, tomorrow or a month or two months I'm out of here.
-I finally tapped into that Mango Absolut. I....regret....nothing. I'm consuming what is left right now porque alcohólico. Might also dip into some wine, the night is still young.
Take care people, at all times.
