However, concerning plumbing. I think all new houses are pretty safe because they use PVC for plumbing, at least here in the US for the most part. You're safe from lightning inside homes, or metal buildings and cars. A lot of those structures form somewhat of a Faraday cage which shields you from electrical current (and other electromagnetic radiation for the most part).
One random fact about me. I am growing a bit of a beard for the first time ever...
