LJay Wrote:Sylph, if you want to practice speaking Standard English try to take a vacation to a place where it is spoken. Stay as long as you can and listen and converse as much as you can.
The other possibility is tuning in to something like BBC news and repeating what is said. The internet should make this relatively easy.
But it gets boring. I know it's important, especially if I wanna be a professional gurl;
But I'm still a lil childish xD I like to say things that have a meaning that I understand.
I.e - We say "Skanty" to mean something or someone cheap/poor/shady, but it's not really the meaning of the word.
"He's skanty" (He's Shady/Poor)
"He's Skanting" (He's Struggling)
"He's Skantin-Me" (He's Stealing from Me)
But Fear not! I am quite adapt, I can so modestly say, at written Standard English
Just talking in it... it's just not as simple lol. One of these Gay Days
