Well I did drive a Tacoma for 2 weeks, it was a fully loaded one, 4x4, I got about 22-23 MPG when I drove it...it was fun to drive. I had it to drive while my old Prius "c" was in for warranty work. A friend of mine had a Tacoma as well, says he misses it lol. As for an SUV, a friend of mine...actually the other friend's partner lol Got a Toyota RAV4 hybrid. My advice if you go that route don't bother with the hybrid...if you want a hybrid get a prius...otherwise they're just silly.
Honda CRV is a good reliable car...Interesting find was that Honda CRV owners keep their vehicle longer than any model.... #2 was the Prius. I used to be buy American but after the last few domestic vehicles...sorry not sorry. I can definitely see that Toyota and Honda make a better product....
Stay away from Mercedes....unless you like a bunch of features and crap that break.
I have heard relatively good things about Subaru, however, I also hear they like blowing head gaskets at 150,000 miles...
You probably know what my thoughts are on Dodge & Chrysler...
