Perversion
Perversion is a form of human behavior which deviates from what is considered to be orthodox or normal. Although the term perversion can refer to a variety of forms of deviation, it is most often used to describe sexual behaviors that are considered particularly abnormal, repulsive or obsessive.
In behavioral health recovery the exploration of obsession, fixation, and attraction regarding a continuum of the perverse can prove a process to remain stuck, or a tool for growth. Staying "comfortable" sometimes takes some denial and when circumstance appears to dictate moving either forward or digging in deeper, the result is discomfort. Embracing that discomfort and finding a "new normal" can often be a welcome milestone and frequently established in the exploration of "past to current" experience for building strength and resilience ( forgiveness is a big key). Hindsight's 20/20. Deliberately "working" with this method can get strong results! The present is a gift and the ever evolving plan to move forward, actively engaged, ensures the gift's value.
