It was warm & windy today - mid to upper 70's
There's a forest fire that started in the mountains here today & that wind lit it up pretty good...

yes its been very dry this past month. Very high ground winds yesterday and as luck would have it a Forest Service controlled burn became un-controlled and the fire as of this morning got 15-20 structures. Winds seem calmer as of mid morning. The fire is in the mountains south west of denver. All this in a slow growth forest so what burns up will not return.

Yep its deff been warmer & drier than normal this month...(we could no doubt use something like a good spring blizzard this year)

At least the wind calmed down today so they've got the planes & choppers up there fighting it. Its still burning out-of-control (but not growing at a crazy rapid rate) I don't see a big billowing smoke cloud coming from that area like yesterday evening. The TV news just said 23 structures lost as of this time..

All this in a slow growth forest so what burns up will not return.

Yep somethin like 100+ years for it to come back to what it was...

Rainy all day , it's about 18 °C at the moment , heading for a low of 11°C.

SPECTACULAR day...started a little fresh 15.8, but blue skies and gentle breeze off the water all day and top of 26c.

I really hope this weather lasts through Friday, don't fancy the idea of packing up a house and moving into another in wet weather.

In the Denver valley nice and dry, not too hot

the mountain forest fire SW of denver continues 0% contained. A while back i lived in the hills outside of denver and can feel for the residents there who know they are in constant danger of getting whiped out by someone's carelessness.

Well, that's today for us. I'm sitting here wearing my big fluffy warm coat, over my shirt and have my knees drawn up into it .

It's freezing .
