Yes, but this only illustrates how outlandish this whole thing really is. The shooter, George Zimmerman, isn't even white, he is latino.

No witnesses indicate any racist slurs used, nothing in the 911 call indicates that the shooting was racially motivated, and yet the media and many members of the African American community have jumped to the conclusion that it was a racially motivated hate crime (without due process).

It is very sad what happened to the boy. The police should have arrested George Zimmerman and completed a thorough investigation before releasing him. But the injustice that Trayvon Martin experienced has only been matched with a public injustice for George Zimmerman.

I realize he's Latino or Hispanic, which is exactly why I personally think it's so baffling, since he would technically be in the same boat as Blacks, since both races have been discriminated against.

I was refering to black and white in a general sense, not about Zimmerman personally.

I do not feel sorry for him because he has not gotten a fair trial or has been unfairly prejudiced, because that's exactly what he did to Trayvon. At least he gets to live, we can't say the same for Trayvon, can we?

He shouldn't have even did what he did in the first place.

And ofcourse the Black community would jump up and make an uproar, wouldn't you if you were black or if your race was put through the same history and even current plight that blacks have gone through and are going through now?

It's easy to speak from the outside, but when your on the inside, it's completely different. And I'm not even considered black by most, but I grew up "black" so I know what the mindset is like.

Even still, no matter what colour anyone is, people shouldn't be killing each other based on looks or their "suspicious-ness" or at all for that matter.

I think he meant the way people use guns now-a-days. I can agree.

I personally believe guns are the representation of evil in it's simplest form.

If I can end your life with just a simple finger motion, then something is seriously wrong. I get it's purpose by the police to protect them and others from harm, but to me it's so barbaric.

Someone's life shouldn't be at the mercy of a simple contraction of someone elses finger muscles.

@Dfiant- I agree with you Dad. Him screaming in the background was the major turning point for me and Zimmerman should be dealt with. I love people, but someone who can shoot a person calling for help and is defenseless, is not someone I think I can love. .

although i'm respectful of your opinion, the fact is murder in of it self is barbaric ( regardless of the tool used) and getting rid of guns is not going to get rid of evil people, only allowing people to defend themselves using any means neccacary can stop evil people. Also you can't blame a in-animate object for evil happenings, that be like me blaming my fork because i'm fat.

Oh, did I say that? Please show me in my statement where I said "Latinos can't be racist". By your statement, I would think you were functionally illiterate. After all, of the two of us, I imagine there is only one of us who has formally studied critical race theory in any way, shape, or form. I did bring up the fact that the shooter was Latino, but that was in reference to QO's post where he describes the racial tension between the African American Community and the Caucasian American Community. Obviously, that tension is mute if neither the victim or the shooter in the incident was Caucasian. That was my point.

I detest murder, it's so ugly. But what I meant by guns, is that it's probably one of the quickest ways to kill someone, without even having to move, and something like that is so wrong.

It's kind of like playing god. If you have a gun and I'm defenseless, my life is basically in your hands.

Trayvon plead for his life and wasn't given mercy, and I acredit that to the power guns give to people.

I agree, people will always find a way to try to control others, find a way to harm others, but Guns are the most dangerous weapon today, other than the human mind. A gun's main intent is to maim or kill, what about those two things are humane?

Only a coward would use a gun on a defenseless person.

But I respect your opinion as well, because we grew up differently and in two completely different societies and places. Violence here is considered a fist-fight, while out there it's either murder or critical life endangerment., sadly.

But to this statement you made... does this give him justifiable cause to chase and shoot him? Latino/Black/White, does it give him a right to shoot a defenseless teenager, pleading for his life?

Especially when the dispatcher said he didn't have to pursue him.
