Aw I say be honest with him as he seems to be understanding, just let him know you won't try to control him. For some odd reason people like to assume when you like them and that you cant stand seeing them with someone makes them think that you automatically want to control who they date and want to sabotage their relationship, too many occurences Ive seen or dealt with this :/
