I have seen rise of the planet of the apes I got the DVD for Christmas. It's a fantastic film. The original with Charlton Heston was fantastic too. Has any One seen the cartoon version of Planet of the Apes.

It's as always been a tie between Blade Runner and Ghost in the Shell for me.

Also really like
Serenity
Moon ( Love me some Sam Rockwell)
Hitchhikers Guide ( again Sam Rockwell)
12 Monkeys
The Matrix ( the first one of naturally)

and Inception but that not really sure if that counts a pure Sci-Fi.

It just occurs to me that I much prefer reading scifi (such as Isaac Asimov, F. Paul Wilson, etc) than scifi movies. Come to think of it I'm usually not that big of a fan of Star Trek or Star Wars yet there are novels of both series that I love. Contact is also one of my favorite books, ever, though the movie was ok (I liked it, saw it about a half dozen times, but don't own a copy, so that's pretty good but doesn't qualify as a favorite). Scifi flicks are ok to pass the time but I rarely get into them. I LOVE Firefly, however, but I didn't care for Serenity anywhere as much (though I still liked it more than many more popular scifi movies).

Wait, there is one I'm very fond of called The Invasion. I know many don't like it (I think mostly because it didn't remind them of the body snatcher movies they enjoyed in childhood more than anything else) but I think it appeals to me for very specific reasons that are beside the point.

And I am eager to see Iron Sky when it comes out, though more as a comedy than a scifi.

Hmmm...does X-Men: First Class count as scifi? Because I LOVE that movie.

Strangely, I haven't seen Blade Runner yet...I have the feeling I'll very much enjoy that one when I do.

I liked the last one with Caesar and the experimental drugs to (hopefully) cure Alzheimer's, though not enough to ever watch it again yet (and I doubt I'll ever own it even if I find it at a good price, but I did enjoy seeing it). The movie before that (with the time warp) was ok to sit through once but wasn't anything special to me. I didn't care for any of the others (the ones made decades ago) I've seen, though that may have simply been the timing was bad.
