So I've come to accept it.

I've been slowly learning all the crap that gets put in our food. We're all pretty much doomed. I'm waiting for the day I can actually afford water filters that remove flouride. Ultimately i'd love to have a rain barrel set up so I can use it as drinking water, but that'll have to wait until I have my own house. I'm working on consuming less processed crap and while I'm clearly not flawless I've made quite an improvement.

I never thought about eating on a nonstick surface means you're consume small amounts of teflon. But I use cast iron skillets almost all the time and I find cooking without some type or oil,or butter, or even just using water as..very strange.

Good for you man.

Cast iron is great. It's a NATURAL non-stick surface once it gets "seasoned".

I once read that you can get a nice dose of iron just by cooking up a spaghetti sauce in a cast iron skillet. (Tomato sauce being quite acidic, but the iron is *good* for you).

Personally I'm not bothered by fluoride in my drinking water as much as I am by these God forsaken "Franken-foods" and GMO freaks of nature.

If I could manage it (and I can't because I travel too much) I would only eat from my local farmer's market.

Bon Appetite!

I see it has been mentioned already but gonna chime in anyway...soda of any kind is bad for you for many reasons......it is a poison of sorts and the sugar in it is deadly...really...deadly....I do have a root beer maybe twice a year and it is so shocking to my system...but it does help the popcorn go down better at the movies:biggrin:

I think of it as diabetes in a can...it contributes to obesity and it also has worthless calories and the sugar itself definitely is an underlying contributor to most cancers and it makes the body acidic...you need to have your body alkaline to maintain good health.

Having said that...I was addicted to coca cola for a few years when I was in the Navy...I felt awful all the time...i think I drank maybe a six pack a day...nasty stuff.

Today I only drink water, black ice tea (no sugar or flavors...blech), black coffee and juice I make myself (usually carrot and apple mixed together but always a veggie and a fruit)...if you drink fresh carrot juice it will more than satisfy the sugar craving and it is a zillion times better for you. Water is actually my favorite beverage.

Good luck overcoming your addiction!
