Pride
#41
I have 26 new straight allies going these year with their families, our pride is kid friendly, jumping balloons, animals courtesy of the humane society, face paintng, etc, so not all people that go are gay, but many are, oh yes and free hiv testing, Jim

You guys are lucky though, we barely even have a pride.

I remember last year we had a smallish float, with not that many people and the people that were there were mostly booing.

We kinda just get it out of the way with the rest of the floats/parades, which is on May 24, although we call it "Bermuda Day" now, instead of the Queens Birthday.

I was happy to even see something atleast though, but it would be spectacular to see what you guys have here. I don't mind going places alone or being seen or whatever, because life is to short to care, but we don't do much to celebrate anything gay or homosexual/bisexual/transexual in general.

I'll probably go again, just to see and experience the day and hopefully there's a better reaction this time and more emphasis on the pride and not just swept along.

Have fun at your respective prides though! Be Divas Dazzler1

before i met my partner.
i was out late the night before. Didnt plan to but went to the pride parade in the morning anyways. It was super warm that day and i took the dogs. Kept them watered but the weather got to us. found a shady spot and tied the dogs to my foot and i fell asleep.

It was odd feeling all the noise around me while i slept.
I got up and walked around. Got the weirdest reaction from people, like they were staring at me all afternoon.

LOL I deff wouldn't be able to rest/sleep with all those people around

Interesting..I never got that feeling, maybe they were watching at your dogs? Smile
At the time I went last year (arrived just after the parade) It was really packed - especially in the vendor booth area (like to the point where you could do nothing more than move slowly along with the crowd LOL) .. but even the various stages had a good crowd.
I was glad it was partly cloudy/not so hot (hopeing for the same sorta weather this year)

The Pride in Boulder was totally different in that it was much smaller & wasn't crowded

I think today is the first day of Pride, seeing rainbow flags on all the buses and outside town hall on the plaza. I spent the night at my friend and I was a bit freaked out by the vast mass of people downtown on my way to the bus stop home.

Sometimes you need a bit of chaos in your life to be able to shrug off pitiful disdain about something meaningless.

Did your bus have rainbow flag too? Smile

I just went past it, it felt very awkward going through it with someone who doesn't know I'm gay, but on the other hand no one does

But yes all the buses, all the lines Smile Not sure but I think the buses that went to other towns as well had them on to Smile

At least you got to see a little bit of it then Smile
I would feel very awkward if I was going by it with someone I knew too (noone know about my gay side)
I know I'd really want to stop & spend some time there, but at the same time wouldn't be able too...
