Skipped Pride and Went Exploring
#11
East Wrote:I personally beleive with every fiber of my being that IMAGE (what appears to be versus what is) will be the decline of our civilization (the definition of decadence) and way too many gay people (NOT ALL...BUT ALOT) celebrate being shallow and enjoy idolizing what appears to be rather than what is...celebrating physical beauty as something that matters when actual beauty is what lies underneath...focusing on what appears to be versus what is.

Trust me...I wish it wasn't that way and I actively tried to make a difference by holding and openly expressing my very unpopular opinion to the worst offenders...

When I am in the company of alot of gay people I have witnessed this group think behavior for way too many years so I avoid exposing myself to it.

I can't tell if the Pride is a manifestation of that view. To tell the truth I don't get the colorful craziness  You know the body painting, rainbow sunglasses etc. It's so not me Smile I think that hetero people can easily get an impression that LGBT means something VERY different. That their colleague simply can't be gay, because he wears a suit. I think that in that sense the Pride does a lot of damage.

About the celebration of physical beauty... just look at ads or models or magazine covers... it's not just gay world.

Not all of us were meant to be around men in their underwear and women who are topless in endless crowds of half naked people. Nonetheless, there was a lot of eye candy. That's what I got from pride. I may go again, simply because as someone who studies sociology, I like to get a good sense of culture. Not that all prides are the same, I do suppose they are somewhat similar. You can have fun without going to pride. Hiking is equally prideful. Just be yourself, and no one else. You don't have to conform to straight world by being masculine and straight and you don't have to conform to fairy world. The only person you need to conform to and mold into, is yourself. =) nonetheless, pride was a blast for me. It was my first time.
