Depends how far away he is, if he's in Maine then it's just a ferry ride across the gulf. I would usually say that if you can't meet regularly, like on at least semi-weekly, it is very difficult to make a LDR of this kind work.

I don't really live in Chicago. Not yet. But my boyfriend does. I live 2500 miles away.



This LDR has NOT been easy. But lately, it's never been better.

The key here, I think, is you need to have a deadline (mine is end of summer). Then the relationship needs to *evolve*.

Some people may be able to handle LDRs over an indefinite period, but I suspect most cannot. I wouldn't want to. I want a full time, close intimate relationship.

But in the meantime, I think I found something pretty special so I'm willing to work with what I have (phone, skype, texts and in-person visits once or twice a month.)

One of my happiest relationships was long distance. I think, if you feel its safe and going well, then you should go for it. It could be a wonderful experience.
