want to start a gay movie night group

in this small city, gay friendship seems very difficult to find.
we don't have a group for gay guys/girls to get together for some chit chat.
(when i was in China, we had many gay sport groups.
we played sports together regularly.
i miss that.
here only gay bars. )

so i want to start one, something like gay movie night.
on Meetup.com
that gay guys/girls in this small city can meet, and enjoy some movies and friendships, and meet new people.

but i am afraid that no people would come.
it's so close to NYC.
most people would go to NYC for fun.

and in China, all of us are closet.
it's easier to be together and talk about something we are comfortable with.

But here, everyone is out, including me.
we don't really need gay friends.

what do you think? any ideas?

If that's what you'd like, why not try it out and see how it goes? ... The question is, where will this group meet? What material will you use to show the films? Are you expecting the members to bring their own films? How are you going to programme it? Are drinks and food to be brought by participants?

she's my best friend.
I have netflix, which has a lot of gay theme movies.
probably i can provide drinks and snacks for the first several times.
then we can share the fees.

i only worry about no people would come.

Oddly enough I live in a large city with a fairly large gay community and there's no LGBT group on meetup dotcom.

I'm worried.
