The first Scream movie. I suppose on the whole it's clever and funny with the odd shock, more than it is scary - but the opening scene with Drew Barrymore gave me proper chills.

That film is excellent, very suprising, and multi-layered for a horror film, i love the points it makes about religion and race, and a hell of a shocking finale, but... and heres a big but, what is wrong with you, how do you find it scary! Its not! For me scary is either people or ghosts, not aliens & monsters, i find that really stupid, im sorry i do, dont get it.

Extremely disturbing, especially the final sequence, but not gratuitous. Salo is a political movie with big brains. Pasolini wants to show us the true face of fascism and how ugly and obscene it really is.

Absolutely.

A young kid being run over by a huge truck: that's a brilliant premise for a film/novel, shocking and disturbing.

I haven't been scared scared of a movie since I was a child but the one that ruined me as a kid was IT. As an adult the movies that either disturbed or downright gutted me are Life is Beautiful (I sobbed so hard I hiccuped) and Dancer in the Dark. A few movies have been creepy to me like Session 9 and The Descent but I just can't get scared from films anymore.

Be careful with calling someone stupid (or at least being stupid) for finding such a movie scary when you say you don't see how a horror movie with monsters in it can be scary. Some would say that ghosts are a lot less scary than monsters.

Or was this intended as dry humor?
