Should I Make Contact?
#11
fjp999 Wrote:My only difficulty is knowing what to write. If it was a private email addy then no problem but this is his company email addy. What if he has a secretary who reads his emails first???

Easy. If you have his company address then write a letter and send by land mail marked "Personal & Confidential" [or the German equivalent] Send it recorded delivery. I am not trying teach "suck eggs" but sometimes the old methods are best.

Thanks for the thought Enigma but his mail addy wasnt listed and I couldnt bare to wait for a response if one was coming. But then one is never sure that one gets email either. But if he does have a secretary that person probably opens his private mail also...

I still havent had a moment to think about a draft but will post it here to make sure it is professional and not naughty.

If I were looking to make contact with an old flame, then I would aim for polite and friendly rather than professional, but for what it's worth, I'm quite happy to throw in my two penneth if you want my opinion when you post it babe ...

... but I'm sure it'll be fine - it's got to come from you after all, so I'm sure it'll be sound xx

I agree, Frank, naughty might get him into trouble or put him in a tight spot. Although given the line of work he's in, I'm sure he's not the only gay person around. Are you afraid that maybe he's reconsidered his sexual orientation???
I'd second Shadow on the "friendly and personal" (but not naughty), I guess by professional you meant: nothing putting his professional integrity on the line.

Yeah Shadow, what princealbertofb said. Of course I mean to make it friendly and personal but not naughty = professional.

princealbertofb, I doubt that he has turned straight but that isnt a concern of mine. I just wanna say "hello and how are you?" and I agree that his industry probably has a large percentage of gays in it.

The reason I havent written a draft yet is because I am about to get my own house. It needs some tidying up and washing down and with my health it is exhausting so I just cant think after a couple hours of "exciting, new house stuff". I am planning to take most of tomorrow off so maybe I can put a few words down and post them here.

thanks again all,
frank

Yes, exciting is THE word. Since my poor health I have been living with my insane elderly parents. I am getting the house for a song. It is fully furnished and in great condition. Been empty for four years so needs a bit of tidying up and wall washing then painting...

I have some pics but the sleeping meds are hitting pretty hard now  so will post some later.

nite,
frank

I uploaded some small sized pics of the new house (that has been keeping me from drafting a letter).

Hope I did it correct and that an admin OKs them.

I finally wrote out this short note.

What does everyone think?

Quote:Hi Stephan,

I was looking thru my address book and did a Google search on all my old friends. I was so happy to find your profile listed and all the success you have had.

I hope you remember meeting me. It was about 20 years ago. We met in London and I came to visit you in Vienna. Later you came to visit me in USA but then we lost touch when I moved to Japan.

I lived in Japan for nearly 10 years then moved to San Francisco with my partner Yoji. We had a small fashion house. Yoji is a designer and I managed his work.

It was so great meeting you and your amazing friends – Pipi, Nivea and so many others.

If you have time to say “hello” and catch up on old times it would be great.

That looks perfect, Frank, for a taking-up-again-from-where-we-left-off e-mail. Bravo. Have you sent it? Keep us posted on whether he answers or not. ??
