I know this OP looks like a troll, but speaking from experience, all the transgender people I know who actually did it, and I know several, are all messed up in the head. They have lost of issues and baggage that have nothing to do with their identity. They should require counseling for that instead of the sex change thing.

It makes no difference if it's same sex marriage or straight marriage .
The whole concept of legal marriage is just a fad.

If it were not for church doctrine that is recognized by the state , the idea of marriage would have faded away long ago , I have some friends that have never gone through the ceremony.

Seriously a piece of paper and a ring does not make for an eternal happy couple.
It makes for a legal binding contract ,recognized by state but not a happy one.

In NY before they legalized same sex marriage there were two guys who got married in Vermont, but one died due to a hit&run and then malpractice in an NY hospital. The survivor was said to have no standing to sue the hospital cuz he was not next of kin or married in NY. So he still hasn't even gotten the chance to get a penny of compensation. There are very real practical factors here.

I don't think it 's wrong for a transgender wanting to have a sex change. But you are right! Most of ( not every ) transgender people that I met are messed up. They are full of issues and problems and very aggressive.
They need helps.

As if non-trans people can't be full of problems and aggression and being in need of help. Or there are no well-adjusted trans people. Right.

I've met stable, centered transsexuals before.

But they do have real pain until they transition and they have to put up with a lot of unnecessary crap on the side, so I'm not surprised many seem messed up...especially if many of them take more hormones than they're supposed to (which I understand many do, and anyone who experiences a radical hormone shift of any kind is prone to crazy behavior and extreme mood swings). (ETA: and transitioning is hella EXPENSIVE, and being that deeply in debt, especially when having to jump through hoops for psychologists to clear you for it, perhaps fighting legal battles against family members trying to stop you, etc, is another way to get people really upset and easily irritated, especially if it interfered with their ability to be employed during & after.)

Still, one should keep in mind that unless you actually hang around plenty then you're most likely to notice and remember the ones who stand out, and those who do so in upsetting ones are the easiest to remember, while the more normal, healthy ones are all too easy to overlook.

There's a pretty vast difference between marriage of relatives, marriage of children and marriage of homosexuals.

The reason we don't allow incestuous marriage is mainly because the risk of conception; if the couple has a child it's rather likely to suffer from various birth defects. This topic could probably be discussed because "what about homosexual incest, what if the couple used contraceptives, with that logic should we forbid handicapped people from marrying too" etc. but you get the point.

And when it comes to why we won't allow children to marry it's just because they've been deemed incapable of making decisions as such. You could argue that it's discriminating or you could support the decision - regardless of what side you're on the argument is reasonable.

When it comes to marriage between two homosexual adults capable of giving clear consent there is NO reason whatsoever not to allow them to marry each other. This is indeed a human rights issue.

Technically speaking, about half the states in the US allow first cousins to marry, and interesting enough a great many of them are also very much against gay marriage (and interracial marriage before), go figure. It's odd, but if my cousin wanted to move out here we'd be able to marry with full benefits AND have children, but I can't fully marry another woman.
