I didn't dig the nude beach thing because it's a big troll fest really, but I have been nude in public streaking and to be goofy once (shock value haha's) but no, not really or normally.
Naked in the woods on the farm a few times because it was roasting hot and no one for a couple miles to worry about and it does feel good to have the sun on ya - but no, gimmee boxers.

Still, I call showering with a whole regiment of guys "in public"; you can hardly call that a private situation... even if all are male, and naked.

Yeah, but you don't stand out to others while naked in the gym showers...but someone naked at the grocery store WOULD draw everyone's attention, and the people who looked would be clothed wondering who the freak was and if s/he was crazy, on drugs, etc.

And I recall a NatGeo interview where a teen girl in some fundie Muslim country was being all cool talking to the American woman without her veil on but then her father entered and saw her naked face and she literally cried in shame at a man seeing her naked face.

Happily. I think that being naked is absolutely fine. Theres doesn't have to be anything sexual about it. But most people see it exactly like that!

I have, when I was in San Francisco at the Kabuki Spa & Spring, a Japanese-style bath (not a hook-up type bath house). There was a creepy old Japanese dude who kept following around and tried to "give me a ride" back to my hotel, but I politely declined.

I'd do it again, like at a nude beach, but only by myself (not with others I know).
