Of course there are also the kids who get it all too fast and then get way too bored while waiting for their peers to catch up. Bored kids (especially those with a quick mind) can make life...interesting.

ETA: In my case teachers found it best to look the other way as I silently read books or did some writing, even when they normally didn't allow it. They found it made things run much more easily (my kind of disruption was difficult to send me to the office for though I did get sent a few times anyway, and that would mostly be asking questions they either didn't want to answer or didn't know the answer to). Of course not all kids will take that option even if offered to them.

@mrk2010: Teaching is a really rewarding profession if you're good at it. You have tremendous power to shape your students' views and character, which will affect them in life. I know I had a few really wonderful teachers but also a lot of bad ones. The good teachers are reflective, empathetic and charismatic. They tolerate ambiguities and they're comfortable with not knowing the answer. They also know that each student is different, so one model is not gonna work for all. For me, what's important is the attitude and the mindset. If you get it right, you have about 90% down.

Interesting point: I've taught kids piano during college years. I didn't particularly enjoy it as I'm not good at teaching (don't have the personality for it). So take my advice with a saltshaker on hand

not a teacher - but looking back i was a teachers worse nightmare , hope u dont get any students like me m8, if its allowed, my tip would be if they are disrupting to others and not doin the work then ask them to leave the class, that should have been used on me a lot more than it was...why make others pay for one pain in the ass !!
