Expecting mutual respect and being suspicious or wondering is not the same as jumping to conclusions. People's cautions are understandable and all clearly care. Hope you get to the bottom of the matter feeling respected and with no confusion!!! If he cares about you, be straight up and honest with him. Any relationship that cannot endure such an effort isn't a worthy relationship anyway!

You might suggest agreeing to only call or text him if it is an emergency or, if you are in a situation he needs to know about with no other means of contacting him. In a relationship like yours, I would agree to that much at least.

I think if it bothers you, it does matter. If he's cares about you, even as a friend, he might do a better job explaining his reasons to you...

... though I find it just weird. Talk to him about it and how much it bothers you. I'm a very telephone guy in a relationship. I love talking for long hours on the phone - it's so much more fun so it's just a bit weird.
