Hours to stop Uganda's horrific anti-gay law

Marc Wrote:As well intentioned as this thread may be, what makes anybody think a few signatures can stop the utter barbarians ruling Uganda and the like from doing exactly what they like regarding Gays, when not only have the Western worlds governments failed to change things, but they have the backing of the majority of their people?

A significant portion of their national GDP is international aid, plus it actually worked a few years ago to make them back down from the death penalty. At the least, we can motivate our own governments to put pressure on them.

As from today, Uganda is not receiving a penny in Aid from the UK, 23mil every 3 months.. and the Ugandans laughed.

What else can we do?

We can do things which show them that we are not on their way.... send a petition to our own governments, to our own organisations.... we can buy our coffee, vanilla, tea and so on from other countrys. It is not important that anything stopped immediately.... but we have to be the sand in their drives and the sugar in their motors....
We have to show them that we fight for our rights and our people.... 1 drop water on a stone is nothing.... so let us be a river !
They kill our brothers and sisters ....
We have to show the world that our people die and we don´t just watch....

That's pretty horrific alright ~ it's astonishing what some of these places will do to people. Hope it helps at least to decrease the abuse and violence.
