Day 1 of Champix.

Cravings have died off since I took the tab about 4 hours ago, I have had 2 cigs since when I normally would have had 5 or 6. Craving water, can't get enough of it right now.

I thought the name of the drug was Chantix, or am I missing the humor

I've read some pretty scary warnings about what that drug can do to one's mood.

I am a smoker myself, in my own humble opinion, I would be more scared of the drug than I would be of the nicotine addiction.

Each to his own, I guess it has different effects on different people.

Every medication has it's side effects, even nicotine.

Champix is a prescribed medication, your GP will check your general health and discuss the common side effects a majority of which far outweigh the side effects of tobacco and nicotine.

If the worst side effect I suffer on Champix is 'vivid dreams', then surely that is a small price to pay when the known side effects of smoking is heart disease and lung disease.

At 66 I have tried to give up smoking Lucky Strikes since I started 53 years ago. I tried a drug that gave me "vivid dreams." A friend noticed I was having what was called suicidal ideations. At first he was the person telling me to quit since he didn't like the smell of smoke clinging to me when we were having sex. As soon as he noticed I seemed to think suicide was a good idea, he bought me several cartons of Luckies and threw those pills in the garbage.

Smoking is definitely dangerous but so is the side effects from prescribed drugs. I am a fairly tough guy who became a university cataloger. Check the PDR Physicians Desk Reference. The drug I took to quit smoking also turned off my hormonal system. I stopped smoking but I also noticed I no longer got a morning erection and had forgotten how to masturbate.

My guy, Tom, was as fearless as me and we loved to dare each other to try things. Life without orgasm is a price not worth paying.

Be careful. You might be better going "cold turkey." In my younger days that made me so edgy I started fights. It is a lot better for you than taking drugs. You look in good health so don't blow it by listening to the politically correct who now all hate smoking.

I read your threads and posts and you sound like me. I tell everyone I am not a gay victim, a senior citizen victim, a male victim and I am 100% opposed to new laws that will make masturbation illegal. As a former marine, I have been cold sober and drug free for over 20 years. I can't fight like a marine anymore but I walk my ass off and do Tai Chi. I tell my young doctor [46] to fuck himself when he says stop smoking. I remind him at 66 I have the hormonal and prostate health of a teenager.

By the way, the claims they make for Viagra are bullshit. Trust me. They promise a 4 hour erection but don't add 4 minutes at 66. Take deep breaths and ask God to help you. What the hell, hardly anybody believes in God these days, He may take up the challenge on your behalf and help out.

Good luck.

Day 2 - Very lethargic, probably partly to do with the hot and humid weather as well as the Champix, still very very thirsty, drinking 2+lt water, probably throwing my electrolyte balance out a bit.

No vivid dreams last night, just normal dreams.
