Anime, anyone?

My favourites are probably Princess Mononoke, Haibane Renmei, Kino's Journey and Revolutionary Girl Utena Smile

Kuroshitsuji is good but the implied paedophilia was a bit out of place.

I didn't see that 0.0 wait, in season one or two? Two had Alois which was totally creepy...didn't like that one bit. They totally jumped in with the Anime before the manga had got anywhere. The first few episodes of season one follow the manga then it's all just random crap.

Clannad was good, I liked Kanon as well.
At the moment I'm hooked on Another.

It's been a while since I watched Black Butler but I only saw season one. I remember that Ciel (who is around 12 or so) takes baths with his demon servant somewhat frequently and there's just in general a lot of creepy innuendo going on.

For example there's a scene that begins with a close-up of the boy bending over, sweating and moaning with the servant behind him... then they zoom out to reveal he's only having a corset put on .___.

I didn't care much for it, but I get why others might enjoy it :3

Oh oh oh! xD Yana Toboso (the manga ka of Kuro) writes alot of Shotacon/Shounen Ai Mangas lol. Although Kuro isn't one, she does put alot of fan service in there and it shows. yes he's 12-13, he never actually takes bath with Sebastian though... That corset scene is one of Kiki's favs. Scared the crap outta me though lol.

Season one is nothing compared to season two. I'm glad you didn't continue with it. The Manga has it's moments but it's nothing like the Anime xDDD

SolemnBoy Wrote:As for Evangelion... I kind of like it, but it's pretentious as hell. I feel like the writers clearly understood how to create psychologically deep characters, which is great, but as soon as they tried to introduce philosophy to their storyline everything kind of fell apart.

End of Evangelion is even worse. I DID enjoy it because of the ehrm... unforgettable imagery and amazing music but God... dishing out irrelevant religious symbolism to come off as deep is NOT okay. Also, a lot of things from the story was based on concepts from the GAMES, so a lot of things are impossible to understand with the anime alone.

As far as psychological characterization and symbolism goes I'll always prefer Utena! c:

?

What about EoE did you find irreverent? I figured the Committee and Seele had used artifacts to turn humanity's scattered consciousness into a single entity to find ultimate happiness.

Seele's intentions are vaguely explained but humanity's existence on earth was never meant to be for reasons that would take a lot of time to explain. This information, however, does not exist in the anime and was only explained in some of the games. So in short you could say they're correcting that mistake by having humanity evolve into one entity.

There's also a lot of religious symbols scattered throughout the series/film which seems to bear absolutely no relevance to anything that's going on in the story. The word "pretentious" is thrown around a lot but having symbolism that ultimately doesn't mean anything is nothing but that. As far as I'm concerned at least. I mean, of course it's possible that it actually meant something and I didn't see it, in which case I'd be wrong Smile

I think I do but it might be a spoiler since I don't know the context. Does it involve a long, slow and painful death of an adult? .___.
